Drug Screen Talent FAQ

This document presents answers to potential questions Talent may have while applying to jobs requiring a drug screen.

Updated over a week ago
  1. How often will I need to undergo a drug screen?

A drug screen remains valid for 6 months. You can work any job requiring the same or fewer substances tested in the drug screen in that duration. If the company requires additional substances that haven’t been tested in the last 6 months, you will need to complete a new drug screen.

Drug screens are valid for 6 months, so you will be asked to undergo another drug screen if required by the job if it has been more than 6 months since your last test.

  2. How do I schedule a drug screen?

If you apply for a job requiring a drug screen, you will use the Bluecrew app to agree to our drug screen policy and pick your drug screen location with Checkr (our drug screen vendor). After selecting your location, Checkr will send you an email with the drug screen pass and testing location information. You will need to show the drug screen pass at your testing location.

We also utilize local EmployBridge branches for drug testing for some jobs. If a drug test at an EmployBridge branch is required, you will be contacted through the Bluecrew app to schedule an in-person appointment before you are assigned to the job.

  3. What types of substances are included in a drug screen?

The following substances are tested based on the panel required for the job:

    • 5 Panel: Marijuana, Cocaine, Opiates, Amphetamine, Methamphetamine

    • 5 Panel no THC: Cocaine, Opiates, Amphetamine, Methamphetamine, Phencyclidine (PCP)

    • 10 Panel: Marijuana, Cocaine, Opiates, Amphetamine, Methamphetamine, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Methadone, Oxycodone, Phencyclidine (PCP)

  4. How long do I have to schedule the drug screen?

You must schedule the drug screen within 7 days of starting the drug screen process. You will be issued an ePassport after you select a location and must complete the drug screen within 1 business day of scheduling.

  5. What happens if I fail to select a test location for my drug screen within 7 days of starting the drug screen process?

If you do not select a test location within 7 days of starting, you will need to withdraw your job application from the Bluecrew app and re-apply.

  6. How long do I have to take the drug test after the ePassport is issued?

You have 1 day from the time your ePassport is issued to complete the test.

  7. I missed my drug screen appointment, how can I reschedule?

Please contact Bluecrew Support through the app to request additional time for the test. Note that you will not be able to start the job until you complete the drug test.

  8. What do I do if I have a prescription for the substance(s) included in the drug test?

Please bring proof of the prescription with you to your drug test. An eScreen MRO reviews drug test results and will determine whether the candidate uses prescription medication that would show evidence of the tested substance. If necessary, the MRO verifies the prescription with the candidate's pharmacy.

  9. Can I dispute the results of a drug screen if I believe there has been an error?

Yes. You will receive a notification if you fail the drug screen. You will have 7 days to dispute the results. If your reasons are valid/acceptable, you will remain eligible to work any job in the Bluecrew app

If you believe your drug screen results are inaccurate, please contact Checkr directly via phone (844-824-3257) or email (support@checkr.com) and update them on the current status of your charges. This will prompt them to re-investigate the results of your drug test. Once they complete their re-investigation, they will provide Bluecrew with an updated drug test result, from which we will re-evaluate our hiring decision.

  10. Will failing a drug screen impact my ability to work with Bluecrew in the future, even after the 6-month period has elapsed?

After the 6 months have elapsed, you can contact Support to reactivate your account. You will be asked to go through the drug screen again if you apply for a job that requires drug screening.

  11. What support is available if I encounter any issues or have questions regarding the drug screening process?

You can contact Bluecrew Support via the App for any questions.

  12. Do I need to pay for the drug screen?

No, you do not have to pay the cost of the drug screen.

  13. Can I receive regular updates on the status of drug screen?
Yes, you can log in to Checkr to see the latest updates on your drug screen.

  14. What happens if you don’t receive my drug screen results before the job starts?

If we do not receive the drug screen results before the job starts, you will not be added to the assignment. You can view and apply for other jobs while the result is pending and can work an assignment which doesn't require a drug screen. Once you do receive your result, it will be valid for 6 months and can be used to apply for other jobs requiring the same or lower drug screen.

  15. Will I be added to the job if I missed my drug screen appointment?

If you missed your appointment before the job start date, you will not be added to the job. You can still take the drug screen and we can apply the result to future jobs that require the same drug screen.

  16. How will I know the results of my drug screen?

You will receive messages from the Bluecrew platform to notify you of the status of your drug screen. You will also receive communication from Checkr- our drug screening vendor with resources to review or contest your detailed results.

  17. Can I take a drug screen before I apply to any jobs so that I can have the option to take a job that requires this check.

No. We can only run a drug screen when you apply for the job

  18. Can I request a copy of my drug screen report for my records?

Yes, you should receive a copy from Checkr once they review the drug screen results. If not, please contact Checkr’s support team at support@checkr.com.

  19. Can I continue to work on other assignments while waiting for the results of my drug screen?

Yes. You can work on other jobs which do not require a drug test while you wait for your results

  20. What if I refuse to undergo the drug screen?

If you refuse to undergo the drug screen, you will not be able to work the jobs requiring a drug screen. You can still work other jobs not requiring a drug screen.
